Troy Deeney baffled by Spurs supporters’ mindset for Arsenal

Arsenal FC

Tottenham fans have made some weird takes regarding Arsenal that have stunned Watford striker, Troy Deeney. The comments have been made considering Arsenal’s title contention for the Premier League this season.

Tottenham Hotspur have a tight schedule and may witness fixture congestion towards the end of the season. Spurs are scheduled for 3 games in 8 days to bring their season to an end.

Spurs play host to defending champions Manchester City on Tuesday at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. The fixture will be the center of attraction considering City dropping points could see them losing out on the title. Henceforth, putting Arsenal in pole position to win the coveted trophy.

Deeney: Tottenham should help Arsenal win the Title

Some of the spurs fans have suggested that they wouldn’t mind their team losing out to city. They would rather witness City winning the league for a record fourth time in a row than their rivals lifting the trophy.

After coming across the idea, Deeney wrote:

“I have to be honest – it’s a ******* weird take. You hate another team so much that you want City to win it, again? Not a chance. I’m getting to a point where, as a football fan, I want a different team to win the league. Not because City are terrible but it just gets boring.

We want to see the likes of City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and, hopefully, Spurs all pushing and competing until the final ebbs of the season. I want to be sat there thinking, ‘Blimey, who’s going to win the league?’ rather than, ‘This is a done deal, it’s City, roll on the summer’ because it becomes a waste of time.

So, here we go: Tottenham should want to help Arsenal win the title by getting a result against City.

It will give themselves and everyone else hope that they can win it one day.”

Spurs vs City: Professionalism to Prevail!

Troy Deeney’s comments about Spurs helping the Gunners to the league title are certainly not going to be taken kindly by Spurs fans.

But, it is expected that Tottenham will not take their foot off the pedal against City. Even though there’s a possibility of being mocked by the Gunner’s fans, a win could help Spurs secure the Europa league qualification spot.

Certainly though, Tottenham players wouldn’t be keeping Arsenal in their mind while playing the game.
