Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal are looking to sign a new midfielder in the January transfer window. Arsenal are considering to sign Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi claims Romano. Owing to the failure of Kai Havertz experiment, the Gunners are looking to bring in some options to bolster their chances of a silverware. Moreover, Partey is prone to injuries and has been sidelined again. Although, they packed a deal for Declan Rice, but he also needs a partner to unlock his full potential. Aston Villa man Douglas Luiz is also a potential option for Arsenal.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio said that Arsenal are a big of £53m Martin Zubimendi. Though, he is not having any intention to leave the Spanish side as he has already said. The midfielder is excited to take Real Sociedad to the Champions League and is focusing on that only. Romano said,
“Arsenal feel a bit alert in terms of midfielders and from what I’m hearing they’re really exploring the midfielders market. There are some players they appreciate. A lot of rumours about Zubimendi, it’s true that people at Arsenal really like Zubimendi and think he could be perfect, Mikel Arteta really appreciates him, but from what I’m hearing, the player is very happy at Real Sociedad and he’s very happy with the opportunity to play in the last 16 of the Champions League.”
It is looking hard for Arsenal to have his agreement in the winter. Players do not leave the club at such an early stage. Moreover, there’s a Basque pride attached to playing for Sociedad as well. Perhaps, this deal might be possible in the next summer window but for now it looks like the player is committed to his words at Spain.
