After acquiring new midfielders, Chelsea aims to part with Connor Gallagher, attracting both West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Blues recently confirmed the transfers of Romeo Lavia and Moisés Caicedo for £58 million and £115 million respectively. This marks a new extreme in the Blues spending spree as they near £270 spent this season alone.
These new and rather expensive additions will serve as potential midfielders for the team. Thus marking the beginning of the end of Gallagher’s Chelsea journey.
Naturally, the Blues confirmed the availability of the Englishman for no less than £50 million. An opportunity that the hammers will most likely take advantage of. The club has already bid a now-rejected £40 million on the midfielder, remarking that he will “fit nicely”.
However, Spurs are very keen on adding Gallagher to their roster. the addition will likely serve as a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a current target of Atletico Madrid. Furthermore, the midfielder is planned to support fellow newcomer James Maddison as well.
Why West Ham chose the Chelsea player
The hammers have shown their interest in Connor Gallagher a multitude of times, and it is easy to see why.
the young blood’s technical abilities, longevity on the pitch, and team play are major attractors. However his ability to quickly integrate in a new squad is questionable considering his already established position in his team.
In fact, the player has shown no interest in leaving his current club and would rather stay put if given the chance. However, Chelsea’s recent and future transfers may change the midfielder’s choice. As it is stated that he will be part of the team until the arrival of both Lavia and Caicedo.
And thus, while multiple parties have and still are showing their interest in the young athlete, his future is still unclear.
